At the start of every year, we embark on a journey into the unknown. To realize our full potential in 2023, we’ll need to get comfortable with both the foreign AND the familiar. You’ve already been exposed to something — or Somebody — greater. You’ve had opportunity to observe. Now, it’s time to step boldly into this new territory and get to work! The journey isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s the training ground for those who’ll remain steadfast in the process! Will you accept the invitation to mastery?

- Resolutions are based on destinations
- Look at goals as a journey as a destination
- It’s not beast mode. It’s BE mode. Who do you need to be?
- God speaks in the language of journey.
- The destination is only beautiful because of the journey.
- The journey is trying to teach you…
- Then Jesus says follow me I will make you fishers of men it’s an invitation to Mastery
- Jesus is asking first for the disciples to observe.
- Most of us are already full so they can’t be masterful
- When we are exposed to it and see masterful, it gives us the appetite to be masterful.
- In the text, they are moving from observation of Mastery to being in Mastery
- Part of the anxiety of moving into next is wanting to be a master.
- Your goals will meet the intersections of the foreign and familiar. Jesus is the master of this.
- Philippians 2:5-11
- If you embrace the foreign and familiar, you don’t have to choose.
6 Strategies for Mastery (John 14:25)
- A master knows how to tap in when it’s time to tap out
- A master knows when and how to ask/receive help – what’s the strategy for the people you have around me
- A master has peace in trouble – trouble is going to come. Trouble is not working against me. It’s working for me.
- A master chooses rejoicing over rejection
- A master knows what’s in Him is more dangerous than what’s around Him
- A master doesn’t just have a message. The master is the message.
- Mastery is a pursuit
